Dempsey TAYLOR was born 1790 a son of Rev. War. Soldier, Henry TAYLOR 1750 - 1820 and Mary PRESCOTT of St. George's Parish, GA on lands along Little Ohoopee River in the area that later became Burke Co., then Washington Co., GA. Due to the large amount of missing marriage records for this area of Georgia as well as Dale Co., AL, we don't yet know Dempsey's wife's name. He is found in these census records:

Nancy J. TAYLOR b. 1810-1811 married Samuel J. TINDELL abt 1833 in Dale Co., AL. He was the son of Thomas B. TINDELL and Elizabeth "Betsie" COLLEY. Later, Betsie was Mrs. John Richard POTEETE, Sr. of Washington Co., GA. Nancy and Samuel TINDALL had 11 children: Mary Ann, Seaborn, Henry Massey, John A., Elizabeth, William T., Dempsey, Moses, Nancy, Martha B., Eliza Elizabeth, James A. and Benjamin Francis. Nancy died in 1862 Holmes Co., FL and is buried at Mt. Gilead Prim Bapt Ch Cem., Houston Co., AL.
Mary TAYLOR b. 1815 married Nelson WATFORD [1816-1903] and had 12 children: Ellis, Frances A., Roxanna, Margaret, Hardy Dempsey Dolphus, Simpson, Nancy, Hardy Thomas, Mary Elizabeth, Lucy, Caroline "Carrie", and California "Cally". Mary died in 1910 and is buried at Galilee UMC Cem., Jackson Co., FL
Sarah TAYLOR b. 1820 married Nelson WATFORD's brother, John Michael WATFORD b. 1812 and had 5 children: Nancy, William H., John Wesley, Elizabeh J. and Michael W. John Michael died in 1862 and Sarah died in 1902.
Lydia Josephine TAYLOR b. 1824 married 1843 Zachariah TINDELL b. 1821 and had 9 children in the area of Cottonwood, Houston [originally Henry] Co., AL: Green, Calvin, Annie, Samuel T., Lydia Jane, Elizabeth "Bettie", James B., John Henry Mathison and William. Zachariah died in 1864 and Lydia died 1893. They are buried at Mt. Zion Bapt. Ch. Cem., Houston Co., AL.
Annie Jane TAYLOR b. 1833 married Calvin F. WATFORD and had 7 children: Henry, Mary J., Solomon, Eliza, Hillery, Caroline and Martha Elizabeth. Calvin died in 1879 and Annie Jane died in 1898. They are buried at Rocky Creek #1 Meth Ch Cem., Houston Co., AL.

Nelson, John Michael and Calvin WATFORD were brothers and sons of Hardy WATFORD and Nancy MIXON who came from Pitt Co., NC into Darlington Dist., SC and then on into early Dale Co., AL.
