John DUNCAN was born on April 17, 1764 in Guilford Co., NC on lands that in 1779 became Randolph Co., NC. He was son of John DUNCAN, Sr. and his wife Jane. John Jr. married abt 1788 Mary "Polly" SWIFT dtr/o David Flowers SWIFT and Priscilla MULLINS of Jackson Co., GA. They were in Franklin Co., GA by 1806 and later were in Jackson Co., GA.
They had the following known children:
Dennis DUNCAN b. 1789 Rockingham Co., NC married Eliza DODD in 1830 Hall Co., GA. They had at least 2 children: Lumpkin J. b. 1832 who went to OK and Eliza A. b. 1849 who m. John H. COCKRAN and lived in Banks Co., GA. Dennis died in 1852 Jackson Co., GA

William Watts DUNCAN b. 1800 in Greenville Dist., SC married Mary "Polly" BARNWELL in 1824 Hall Co., GA. They had at least 4 children: John B., Francis Marion, Sarah J. and George W. DUNCAN. William died in 1852 Cobb Co., GA.
Thomas DUNCAN b. 1801 died 1835-1840 in Jackson Co., GA He married Mary "Polly" HEARD in 1824 Jackson Co., GA.
Nathaniel "Nathan" DUNCAN b. 1803-1804 married Nancy HOLLIS in Tallahassee, Leon Co., FL and lived in Pike Co., Alabama area most of his life until his death during the late Civil War era. They had 10 children James Madison, William, Mary, Elizabeth, Jane, Matilda, Charles Silas, Wm. Henry Harrison "Henry", Rachel J. and Frances.
Nancy DUNCAN b. 1808 GA married Joshua Hammond RANDOLPH in 1827 Jackson Co., GA. They had 9 children: John W., Mary A., Nancy A., Joshua W., James E., Sarah J., Hilliard J., Susan C. and Frances E. Nancy died in 1877 Jackson Co., GA.
