In the name of God, Amen -- the 22 day of May 1708, I Margaret Lockett of the Parish of Bristol in the County of Henrico, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory, please be Almighty God, do make and ordaine, constitute and appoint this my last will and testament in manner following, first and principally I recommend my soul to God that gave it to me hoping through the merits and mediations of Jesus Christ my Redeemer to have full pardon and Remission of my sins in full and certain hope of a joyful Resurrection at the last day and my body to the earth from whence it was taken, to be buried in such decent manner as my executors hereafter shall think fit and convenient, and for such worldly estate as it hath pleased God of his Infinite Goodness to bestow upon me, I give and bequeath that as forwith Viz:
1st. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Standley, one feather bed and bolster, being the same which I usually lie on, with one blanket and one cow named Duckey with whatever she shall increase to her and her heirs forever.
Item -- I give to my sons Benjamin and Thomas Lockett and my daughters Susan Griggs and Mary Mitchell to each and every one of them one shilling sterling to be paid by my executors hereafter named -- all the rest of my estate of what nature or quality soever
I give and bequeath to my son James Lockett and do make him whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament. Hereby revoking all other wills by me made.
In witness where of I have here to set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written".
